A deep cavern in Newgrange, Ireland, reveals
an inner wall etched with a trinity of swirling spirals. During
the winter solstice light penetrates the darkness and illumines
the sacred glyph. The deep instinct of primitive peoples has
pondered a cosmic mystery. The music of Ancient Light models those
spirals in a grid of biblical texts and haunting melodies.
Presented in three sections, each set is introduced by an
Illumination and its Spiral Chant. Captured in this way each
"spiral" becomes available as a distinct opportunity for
meditation, prayer and study.
Internal dialogue can be discerned in the subtle patterns of album
arrangement. Responses follow proclamations while transcending
canticles
complete the cycle. Light dispels darkness as it draws the eye to
beauty and attunes the ear to wisdom.
In prayerful listening, ponder well the icon which is the
frontispiece of this collection. The marriage of visual art with
contemplative sound intensifies the reflective moment. What the
word is to the ear, the icon is to the eye.

Passion
(2000) |
Many artists have interpreted the so-called "Seven Last Words", the last utterances of Jesus on
the cross. Inspired by ten years of musical improvisation on this theme, and
informed by careful and prayerful scriptural exegesis, the release of a new work
entitled "Passion" coincides with the great Jubilee Year 2000.
Sung and spoken word, acoustic guitar, piano and synthesizer, woodwinds,
strings and electronic as well as acoustic percussion weave a
spellbinding tapestry as the story unfolds. It is the story of
Jesus, prophesied by John,
embraced then abandoned by disciples, arrested and killed, finally
discovered risen from the grave. The listener is drawn in and
transported into the heart of this
powerful drama. |

"I Shall
Sing Your Praise"

This is most definitely an album
of ritual music for prayer and contemplation.
The music is presented in mantras of flowing sound and
traditional prayer
much as streams flow down mountains in natural praise of their Creator.
Each section begins with
The Lord's Prayer, followed by the Hail Mary prayers, and the
culminating Glory To God. The three mantra sections are intertwined
with metrical hymns, creating a meditative and inspiring hour of sound and praise. The recording of a
mountain spring brook flows throughout, recalling the beauty of the
traditional Marian shrines and the faithful pilgrims who journey to
them throughout the world.
